how to meditate

1. find a quiet spot


pick and place and time where you won't be disrupted for a few minutes.


2. sit comfortably


sit cross-legged or on the floor if preferred.


3. focus on breath


focus on your chest rising and falling, and breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.


4. notice the thoughts that arise


it's natural for the mind to be full of thoughts. do not fight them. instead, observe them.


5. gently return to the breath


calmy let the thoughts pass and come back to the present by focusing on the breath. in and out.


6. aim for 5 minutes


if that's too long start with one minute. a timer prevents the need to check a clock or watch.


7. practice everyday


be more careful with making this a habit as opposed to the quality of the session.


8. make progress patiently


all there is to do is notive what you notice and relax in the present, unburdened by thoughts.
